NPL premier division new boys Avro remain level on points at the top with Cleethorpes Town after they stung the Holy Blues with two second half goals.
Second-half goals from Harry Salt and James Simms – the latter an injury time clincher – were enough for the visitors, prompting Gainsborough manager Russ Wilcox to admit: “They were better in both boxes, and that’s the fine margins.”
The visitors lost eight-goal leading marksman Benito Lowe inside ten minutes but Grant Shenton’s men were unfazed.
