LICHFIELD City earned
■ their first league win of the season after goalkeeper Tom Carter produced an inspired display to deny Congleton.
Dylan Thomas’ second-half penalty proved decisive, lifting Lichfield above Congleton at the bottom of the table.
The hosts will wonder how they failed to take something from the game after creating several chances. Matt Gillam, James Kirby and Rob Stevenson all went close in the firsthalf, before Carter made two excellent saves to deny Joao Soares after half-time.
