A well-contested game between two teams in the top six, but it was Margate who head back into Kent with all the points.
The visitors broke the deadlock just before half-time with a finish from close by Elliot Duncan after good work on the right-hand side and a well-placed cross.
Croydon were working hard to get back into the game and they were level after 62 minutes through Brandon Pierrick, who placed a perfect shot into the top corner.
Margate struck back immediately just two minutes later with Duncan’s second.
