■ IT was a disappointing day at Cockrams for Shaftesbury as they crashed to a heavy defeat to a Tiverton Town side that were relegated from Premier South last season.
The visitors took the lead after five minutes when captain Ed Palmer saw his cross shot seemingly deflect into the top corner. A downward header by Owen Howe in the 36th minute doubled the lead.
Brett Pitman put away a penalty after a handball decision to reduce arrears in the 47th minute.
