Reprieving clubs is rewarding failure

THERE comes a time each season when teams are refused promotion, for one reason or another.
Quite rightly, the next team down is offered the place but my gripe is teams who are handed relegation reprieves. Why should they be rewarded for failure?
Put simply, teams that fall in the relegation zone should be relegated and if there is a shortfall of teams in a particular league then an additional team promoted, based on the team finishing on the highest number of points outside the play-offs.
