Racking up some old Vase memories

CONGRATULATIONS to Thatcham Town on winning the FA Vase final at Wembley last Sunday.
Despite me being a supporter of fellow Berkshire club Hungerford Town, I was delighted that the father of Thatcham Town’s first-team coach Chris Rackley, Peter, shook my hand half an hour before kick-off.
I remember his FA Vase semi-final disappointment at Sudbury in 1989 when his Hungerford side went down 6-0!
After the presentation, I got the chance to shake Chris’s hand, his Dad saw it, so did likewise with him. It was a poignant moment and I thank the Rackleys for their time.
