The following is a list of football movies that you must watch at least once in your life if you are a true fan of the sport:

  • The Damned United: Intrigued by the name itself? Well, you should be because this film on football, released in 2009, might just be the greatest movie ever made on the sport. That is also because it is not just an amazing football film, but also a great film in its entirety. Surprisingly, this film is not so much about the sport of football or its players, but about a football team manager named Brian Clough and his ill-fated entry as the manager of Leeds United, a football team in the United Kingdom. This actually serves a purpose. It allows us to see the world of football as a corporate stronghold, not from the centre but from the margins. It gives us a detailed account of the inner workings and procedures followed by the British Football Association and the politics that surrounds the football players who try to make it to the top. There is some seriously good acting in this film and it should be watched at least once by all football lovers.
  • Shaolin Soccer: Pretty sure almost everyone must have heard about this film on football at least once in their lives, right? It created quite the impression. When it was first released in 2001. Nowadays football films are a rarity and so are films on martial arts. Bruce Lee’s gone, right? But, this movie is incredible in how it mixes and matches the two and gives you something really fun to watch. It is the story of a Shaolin monk who reunited with his brothers and uses his superhuman strength and tricks to win a football match;
  • Looking For Eric: Another crazy film to add to your list is right here. This film is once again not about a football star, but about a football fan like you. His name is Eric Bishop and he is in the middle of a life crisis when he meets former football star Eric Cantona, who helps him turn his life into the right direction.

Some other hot favourites you could watch are Bend It Like Beckham, The Miracle of Bern, The Pass and Escape To Victory, among others.
