How Mobile Apps Changed the Sports Betting and iGaming World

Every industry is thrilled when something happens in another corner of the world that positively impacts their ability to interact with their customers, especially when they must do very little to reap the rewards. Technological advancements in the form of smartphones have proven to be a game-changer for the casino and gambling industry. The fact that players can now access their favourite bookies and games anytime, anywhere on the go, has captured the imagination of mobile phone users everywhere, and the gambling industry is skyrocketing.

Build an App, and They Will Come

For giants of the casino world, app-building costs next to nothing. Once the casino had designed and released an app for iOS and Android phones, they opened the floodgates, and customers started pouring in. All that is needed to place a bet on your favourite sports game or play a round of video poker is your smartphone, the app, and an Internet connection in the form of Wi-Fi or 4G and 5G.

Casino Games

One of the great things about mobile apps for casino games is that you still get excellent immersive gameplay thanks to the outstanding skills of the software houses and the app designers. This means they can offer real money casino apps for android and iOS handsets, and players can access using phones, tablets, desktops, or laptops for a complete anywhere, anytime experience.

Sportsbooks Driving the Expansion

But it must be said that sports betting has primarily grown the customer base of online gambling. One reason for this is the legislative changes made a few years ago in the United States. This has meant that many more states made sports betting legal, and now that the providers have had a chance to establish themselves and filter down into the community, punters can download the apps and sign up to play on the go. Sportsbook punters are a massive player base, and mobile apps have certainly added weight to the number of people looking to sign up.

In-Play Betting

In-play betting has been available for some time. However, the addition of mobile apps has further increased punters’ ability to place bets on their favourite teams while the game or match is in play. When punters were forced to stay at their computer or laptop to be able to place any form of in-play bet, they were restricted and therefore could not utilise this feature to its fullest potential. However, now that they have the ability to bet on the go, it is proving even more popular as it doesn’t matter where the punter is while the game is in progress. They can follow the action online using their mobile phone, and if the mood takes place, further bets on the outcomes.

Last-Minute Betting

Using mobile apps to place bets on sports is also a great way of not missing out if you have forgotten or left it to the last minute. Because the connection with the bookmakers is instant, punters can make bets right up until the cut-off point. This means that whether they are away on holiday, enjoying a day out or down at the pub with friends, they can still bet to their heart’s content on all their favourite matches. It also means that if there is a scheduling clash and more than one event is taking place at the same time, they no longer need to miss out on any of the action. Many of the bookmakers offer to stream events that aren’t being covered on national television channels to anyone who is logged in and placed a bet.
