Which Football Teams Will Seek to Fill Managerial Roles this Summer?

Why Every

High-profile football tacticians are always every club’s dream. With the 2023-2024 season coming to a close, several managers have set their eyes elsewhere.

As the summer approaches, the managerial swaps are already looming. Teams like Barcelona, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich are already grappling with the decision to find new head coaches.

Manchester United, Newcastle, Chelsea, Tottenham, and England are still on the verge of deciding. One man’s name, Jose Mourinho, has remained the talk of the day, and even before Roma axed him, he had already held talks with Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab and was considering a move.

However, there are speculations that he could lead Napoli. Which head coaches will be seeking new managerial roles in the summer? Here is a look at who would be switching their allegiance.

The Race to Find New Tacticians

The January transfer window had smaller moves than football fans and agents anticipated. The main explanation could be that some clubs are set to leave their teams, with others having already found new homes.

The managerial role is quite demanding, and it is evident more club owners and teams will be looking for lead coaches. Coaches stepping down from their roles is not a new decision, but it sometimes leaves clubs and owners in a tough situation with a shallow market.

Let’s look at who will be looking for new roles at the beginning of summer.

  1. Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp announced that he will no longer be heading Liverpool at the end of the season. Though Liverpool has struggled under his management in the last few seasons, Klopp has rewritten the story.

For instance, Klopp has now coached the team to lift the EFL Cup on 25th February 2024, a title he considers the most special. Besides this, Liverpool is still a top EPL contender with a one-point lead ahead of Manchester City and two points off Arsenal.

Alonso was Klopp’s most suitable replacement, but he appears disinterested in the role. Thomas Tuchel, Marco Rose, Thoma Frank, Julian Nagelsmann, and Roberto De Zerbi could be suitable considerations at Liverpool.

  1. Barcelona

A day after Klopp announced he would leave Liverpool, Barcelona’s tactician, Xavi Hernandez, made a similar announcement. Despite fans chanting Xavi’s name at a match against Getafe and collecting 13 points out of a possible 15, Xavi is determined to pull through with the decision.

The top-flight manager might have had an impressive season, but the 5-3 loss against Villareal was a shocker that, among other reasons, could have sparked the resignation decision. Flick, who had a big impression at Bayern, could be Xavi’s replacement.

  1. Bayern Munich

Thomas Tuchel is surviving on football mercy at Bayern Munich, not because the team is not performing well. After his appointment, Tuchel coached Munich to defend its 11th title, but this doesn’t seem achievable in the 2023-2024 season.

This probability is based on the fact that Bayern Munich is currently second and hasn’t displayed any desire to defend the title, as it is eight teams behind its opponent, Leverkusen. On the same note, if you think Munich will emerge victorious, you can predict that at the ggbet

Tuchel still has a couple of months to prove himself and leave the club at its peak. A win against RB Leipzig and Freiburg could mean a lot. In addition, if Bayern could go past the Champions League’s second leg against Lazio, it could be a plus, especially if he could win the final title.

However, it is clear that Tuchel will no longer be leading Bayern after having talks with the team’s management. Jurgen Klopp and Xabi Alonso are potential managers likely to replace Tuchel.

  1. England

Gareth Southgate is another experienced coach who could face a crisis that could mean termination of his contract in December. The Three Lions have high expectations regarding the Euro 2024 tournament, and failure to achieve this could mean an end to Southgate’s career.

Other Teams Likely to Have New Managers

While some coaches are stepping down and obvious ones are being fired, some may be unlucky and face the axe if they fail to impress club owners. These include:

  • USMNT tactician Gregg Berhalter is under pressure to impress in Copa America.
  • France’s head coach, Didier Deschamps, could finally step down after 14 years of management.
  • Newcastle United could end the collaboration with Eddie Howe following unsuccessful attempts to lift any title.
  • Backing Ten Hag to keep his role at Old Trafford could be unbelievable – Manchester United have displayed unimpressive in-form and out-of-form results.
  • Roma have agreed an arrangement with Daniele De Rossi on a deal that will last till the end of June.
  • Napoli could fire Walter Mazzarri if nothing changes.
  • AC Milan’s Stefano Pioli could be in a similar predicament.
