WEDDING GIFT: Glyn and Jackie Hiscock present the Man of the Match Award to Fareham’s Archie Wilcox

NEWLYWEDS Glyn and Jackie Hiscock chose the perfect setting to begin married life – on the terraces at their beloved Fareham Town.

The happy couple celebrated their wedding day watching the Creeksiders take on Hamworthy United at Cams Alders last Saturday, still dressed in their wedding outfits.

Glyn and Jackie have fallen in love with the Wessex League Premier side since they started watching them in February 2020 and wanted to celebrate their day with their new-found friends at the club.

Both are lifelong football fans but one followed Portsmouth and the other bitter south coast rivals Southampton.

In the end, the Hampshire footballing divide proved too much and they looked to find a team in the middle to support. Fareham Town was the obvious choice.

On Saturday, they married at Fareham registry office and went straight to the ground for a fish and chip dinner before being treated to a thrilling 3-3 draw.

They also sponsored the man of the match award which they presented pitch side to Archie Willcox before spending the rest of the evening at their reception in the club’s bar.

The couple, season ticket holders at Fareham, are both close to retirement and have identified watching the Creeksiders as a huge part of their future plans.
