SPIREITES ‘SHOCK’ AT £9,000 CUP VAR BILL

CHESTERFIELD say they were shocked to receive a hefty £9,000 bill for the use of VAR in their FA Cup third round clash at Chelsea.
The Spireites used the technology for the first time in their 5-1 defeat by the European champions at Stamford Bridge last Saturday.
The reality of such a high-profile third-round tie soon came home to roost when the National League leaders were billed for a £9,250 ‘match expense’ which includes the use of VAR and is shared equally by competing clubs from gate receipts on the day
