THE record at Staines Town was held by Kevin Fidler, with 637 appearances. An ever-dependable defender, only a succession of injuries prevented Fids from making more during his 18-year senior career that didn’t end until 1994-5.
A couple of years ago, however, Kevin lost his record to Dick Watmore after his career in the 1940s and 50s was reconstructed from old press reports.
