I WAS not at all surprised to learn from your report of Southport v Kettering (NLP, April 3) that Southport’s players were “incensed” by a referee having the audacity to award a penalty against them.
A few weeks earlier, I had the misfortune to witness Southport’s visit to my team Hereford. After taking the lead with an iffy penalty, they then ‘treated’ us to one of the most shameful displays of time-wasting, and play-acting I’ve ever seen.
