OAKLEY LEGEND DIES, 88

ESSEX Senior League side Little Oakley have been in mourning following the death of a lifelong fan who died only weeks after having a stand named in his honour.
Gordon Carter, 88, supported the club for 70 years, and could see their ground from his kitchen window.
He cut the ribbon to declare the new Gordon Carter Stand open last month and described it as the proudest moment of his life.
A Little Oakley statement said: “We are truly saddened by the passing of our longest serving supporter and true Oakley legend.”
