MARTIN Carruthers believes have landed a “real coup” in experienced striker Chris O’Grady.

The 36-year-old has made over 500 League appearances in a glittering 20-year career, scoring over 100 goals. He’s played for the likes of , Wednesday, Barnsley and Bolton.

Carruthers led the Robins to the NPL Midlands title last season and is looking to O’Grady to lead the club’s front line in their first season back at Step 3 next term.

“Chris is an excellent addition to our squad and brings with him a wealth of experience,” Carruthers said. “He is a big powerful unit and super fit.

“He will give us different attacking options and I’m sure will bring plenty of goals to the team this season. This is a real coup for the club.”

O’Grady isn’t the only new arrival at the Pitching In Premier Central club with plenty of pedigree.

Former Northern Ireland international forward Jamie Ward, also 36, has arrived from , while Carruthers has strengthened at the back by drafting in Ben Turner, 33, who was also with Buxton in the past campaign. The centre-back’s former clubs include Coventry and Cardiff.
