STAGS DEPART WITH ‘PRIDE’

THEY’D hoped a knight in shining armour would step forward at the last minute to save the day, but ultimately the board of Walton Casuals had to concede defeat and call time on the club.
The Stags – founded in 1948 – had appealed for new owners or investors to come forward last month in a last-ditch effort to keep the Southern League Premier South club operational.
But the Surrey-based club, who have former Fulham and West Ham defender Tony Gale as chairman and who won promotion to Step 3 four years ago, will not return to the pitch.
