Liam Watson is only 52, but you’d be hard pressed to find any manager in the Non-League game with as many miles on the clock.
A promising career as a striker was cut short when Watson suffered a serious knee injury in 1993, just months after making a £60,000 move from Warrington Town to Preston North End.
Undeterred, the Liverpudlian set off on a 22-year coaching odyssey that took him to Runcorn, Burscough, AfC Telford and Stalybridge Celtic, as well as three lengthy stints at his spiritual home and current club Southport.
