POPE SO ‘PROUD’ OF LONG JOURNEY

ENGLAND goalkeeper Nick Pope has spoken of his pride at his Non-League roots after securing a big-money move to Newcastle United.
The 30-year-old signed a four-year deal with the Premier League giants for a reported £10m fee on Thursday, ending a sixyear stay with Burnley, who were relegated from the top-flight last term.
Following his release from Ipswich at 16, Pope shone for Bury Town before being snapped up by Charlton. In his time with the Addicks, he had loan spells with Harrow Borough, Welling United, Cambridge United, Aldershot Town, York City and Bury b...
