Friendlies Round-Up: Brig bag bragging rights as new season draws near

Brighouse Town bagged bragging rights over Yorkshire rivals Whitby with a convincing 4-1 win in their final pre-season friendly before next week’s curtain-raiser in the Northern Premier League – East.

Brighouse Town bagged bragging rights over Yorkshire rivals Whitby with a convincing 4-1 win in their final pre-season friendly before next week’s curtain-raiser in the Northern Premier League – East.

First half strikes from Jack Normanton and Elliot Harrison put them ahead at the break. 

Brad Fewster pulled a goal back on 73 minutes but Travis Atherton and Bobby Pointon put the gloss on an encouraging display by the hosts. 

Also enjoying the afternoon sun at the other of the country were Burgess Hill who won 4-2 at Leatherhead. 

Reggie Ward drilled in the opener with Hayden Skerry doubling the lead and then creating a third for Martyn Box. Charlie Pitcher notched the fourth in the last minute. 

Jack Grundy headed a 90th minute equaliser as Mossley came from two down to claim a draw with Stalybridge Celtic. 

Kyle Harrison and Osebi Abadaki put the visitors ahead but Bailey Marsden reduced the deficit before Grundy’s grand finale. 

James Clark scored two first half goals in Basingstoke’s 5-0 away day at Wimborne. Bradley Wilson, D’Andre Brown and Marcio Neves wrapped up the scoring. 

Stowmarket let slip a two-goal lead against Bowers & Pitsea before running out 4-2 winners. 

Tom Bullard and Reggie Lambe’s strikes were cancelled out by Vanadiny Junior Mendes and a trialist in the 45th and 47 minutes. 

But a Nathan Stewart brace late in the second half secured victory. 

Kane Drummond scored twice in Warrington Rylands 4-1 defeat of Shildon with Josh Langley and Cal Dolan also on target. 

Max Jessop scored for the second game in a row to cancel out a Lewis Franklin own goal and earn a draw for Welwyn Garden against Wingate. 

Mo Touray’s strike was enough to earn Marine a 1-0 win against City of Liverpool

Anthony Cook’s superb free kick 10 minutes from time saw Cray Wanderers beat Bromley U23s. 

Frome were 3-1 winners at Cirencester with goals from Luke Hopper, Albert Monks and Owen Humphries. 

Hashtag United beat Carshalton 3-0 with two quick goals either side of the break from Harry Haysom and Kojo Apenteng with a fine free kick. Max Cornhill added the third. 

Jamie Rainford’s goal saw Runcorn Linnetts win at Hyde United

Lyle Della-Verde was among the scorers in Enfield’s 2-0 defeat of Berkhamstead while Dorchester Sports enjoyed a relaxing Saturday having thumped South Petherton 6-1 on Friday evening. 

Nick Voss (two), Kyle Critchell and Alex Godfrey were among the scorers.
