KEEPING UP APPEARANCES: Legendary Paul Bastock

WHAT a pleasure it was to witness 52-year-old goalkeeping legend Paul Bastock appearing in his 1,285th game, turning out for Deeping Rangers against Heather St Johns recently, keeping another clean sheet.
Bastock has enjoyed a stellar career with the likes of Cambridge United, Boston United and Rushden & Diamonds and teamed up with ex-Peterborough goalkeeper Luke Steel, who now plays up front for Deeping. He got on the score sheet with a towering header – pure Non-League excellence.
