Scunthorpe United part company with Keith Hill

The Iron have lost five National League games on the bounce

Iron must

Keith Hill and his assistant Tony McMahon have left Scunthorpe United less than 24 hours after losing their fifth National League match on the bounce.

The Iron lost 2-0 to previously winless FC Halifax Town on Bank Holiday Monday as their tough start to life in Non-League, following relegation from the EFL last season, continued.

Despite winning on the opening day of the season against Yeovil Town, they have since been on a run of defeats to Maidenhead United, Woking, Solihull Moors and Bromley before Monday’s 2-0 loss at the Shaymen which leaves them second bottom of the table after six games.

In a statement, the club said: “Scunthorpe United can confirm it has parted company with first team manager Keith Hill and assistant manager Tony McMahon. We thank both for their efforts while with the club and wish them the best for the future.

“A further statement regarding the interim management of the team will be released in due course.”
