Keith Hill and his assistant Tony McMahon have left less than 24 hours after losing their fifth match on the bounce.

The Iron lost 2-0 to previously winless on Bank Holiday Monday as their tough start to life in , following relegation from the last season, continued.

Despite winning on the opening day of the season against Yeovil Town, they have since been on a run of defeats to , , and before Monday’s 2-0 loss at the Shaymen which leaves them second bottom of the table after six games.

In a statement, the club said: “Scunthorpe United can confirm it has parted company with first team manager Keith Hill and assistant manager Tony McMahon. We thank both for their efforts while with the club and wish them the best for the future.

“A further statement regarding the interim management of the team will be released in due course.”
