SHUTDOWN A ‘MISSED OPPORTUNITY’

THE FOOTBALL Supporters’ Association (FSA) believe cancelling the weekend’s fixtures was an “opportunity missed” for fans to pay tribute to The Queen.
At a meeting of all sports on Friday morning, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) left the final decision on postponing action down to individual organisations.
By early afternoon, all football in the country from the Premier League down to junior football was postponed until Monday as a mark of respect.
Rugby union and rugby league opted to play on, as did cricket and golf.
