SOUTHEND Manor are having to rebuild their first team after 17 players walked out this week following the sacking of manager James Wakeling – by text!
The former Hullbridge Sports assistant manager, who was appointed at Southchurch Park last December, was dismissed following last Saturday’s 2-1 Essex Senior League defeat by Athletic Newham.
The club’s poor start to the season left them at the foot of the with just one point from seven games.
Wakeling said: “I am really disappointed. They might have had the decency to tell me face to face.”
