MATCH referees at all levels, come in for criticism nowadays. Often unfairly, and exposure of their human errors aided by technology – whether VAR or Veo-style replays.
However, surely a basic understanding of Competition Rules and FIFA Laws would improve match officials performance?
The FA Vase Competition Rules state that penalty shootouts should decide ties, in the event of a draw at full-time. Thus match officials should understand FIFA Law 14, which states (clearly) that goalkeepers must not touch crossbar, goalposts or net prior to spot-kick. Neither should they shout at...
