Cheeky City would join a cup of nations

I WAS somewhat amused by the irony of the timing of the Scottish football authorities’ refusal to agree to a request by a Non-League team from Doncaster to enter the Scottish Cup next season.
Doncaster City’s application had been based on a 12th Century treaty between Scotland and England, which they had claimed should allow them to enter.
But the decision to refuse the application came in a week that Welsh clubs TNS and Caernarfon Town and Irish sides Cliftonville and Linfield were all playing in Scotland’s SPFL Trust Trophy competition.
