SAM Ricketts says he quit football for the building trade after becoming disillusioned with management.
Ricketts won 52 caps for Wales over the course of a distinguished 559-game career that included four seasons in the Premier League with Hull City and Bolton.
He later moved into management, first with National League Wrexham and then League One Shrewsbury.
But after being dismissed by the Shrews in November 2020, the 40-year-old started a new career selling materials to the building and horticultural trades – and he isn’t coming back.
