Time now to end Boxing Day tradition

I HAVE believed for quite some time that it might be a good idea to play the Boxing Day fixtures on December 27 or 28.
While I can already see the purists fuming at such a suggestion, I feel that playing matches on a day when public transport is virtually non-existent is counterproductive as it means that very few away supporters can get to the match and many home supporters are at a disadvantage too.
It would also allow the players an extra day’s rest and relaxation after Christmas Day. Many years ago it was considered normal to play a full round of fixtur...
