PAYNTER IS WILD LINNETS HERITOR

FORMER Leeds United, Port Vale and Doncaster Rovers legend Billy Paynter has been handed his first management gig in charge of promotion-chasing Runcorn Linnets.
The 38-year-old has been drafted in by the NPL West play-off hopefuls after Dave Wild was sacked over “matters of gross misconduct” this week.
Paynter, who had been a first team coach at Runcorn, takes over a Linnets side in the final play-off place with five games left to play.
