TRACK RECORD: Kyle Morrison

KYLE MORRISON is a man with a mission – to get Solihull Moors into the Football League.

And the 27-year-old defender certainly has a track record when it comes to promotion having helped both AFC Fylde and Kidderminster Harriers into the National League last season.

“I ended up with a winner’s medal and a play-off winner’s medal – two promotions in one season,” Morrison told. “I don’t just want to play football, I want to achieve things. That’s how I am as a person.

“Solihull’s aim is the playoffs and that’s what I’ll be aiming for, going to the club knowing that there’s a job to do.” The centre-half began his football with Alvechurch before National League North Leamington came calling. He signed for the Coasters in March 2022, playing a part in their early-season promotion drive before linking up with Harriers on loan.

He added: “I played around 16 games for Fylde but a lot were in the FA Cup because every game we played went to a replay. Then I was injured for three months and when I got back at the start of January there was a new manager and the team had just won ten out of 11 games.

“One day they said there had been an approach from Kiddie and I said yes straight away. It was local for me and I was aware what a good club they were and that they had some good players.

“We struggled to start with but then it just clicked and we went on that amazing run when we lost just one in 15 games and then to be on TV in a play-off final is where you want to be as a player, regardless of the level.”

Morrison was offered a new deal with Harriers and admits it was a difficult decision choosing between the clubs, but revealed it was a meeting with Moors boss Neal Ardley that steered him that way.

“The attraction was instant because of the way he spoke,” he explained. “I felt a good vibe. I felt he knew exactly what I was all about. You just have to look at what he’s done and where he’s been – his pedigree speaks for itself.”
