SINBIN CLARITY HELPS HARTPURY

HARTPURY University have been given a second chance to make FA Cup history – thanks to a misinterpretation of the sin-bin rule.
The students went down 2-1 to Holyport in their extra preliminary round clash last Saturday, but the tie was later scrubbed from the records and will now be replayed on Tuesday night.
Alfie Penn’s 89th-minute winner from the penalty spot sparked joyous scenes, during which a Hartpury player was sinbinned for his protests.
But while sin-bins are regularly used in Step 5 football, they are not part of FA Cup protocol and can’t be used.
