LEGAL DELAY HITS SHRIMPERS’ SALE

SOUTHEND UNITED’S sale is being held up by “legal formalities”.
It was announced a fortnight ago that a deal had been struck between Ron Martin and a consortium led by Australian businessman Justin Rees.
It came just hours before the beleaguered club were due back in High Court to face a winding-up petition brought by HMRC, which was subsequently dismissed.
But, in a statement, Martin’s says the target date of November 1 to complete the sale is “going to slip”.
