WHEN his phone started pinging in the middle of the day, defender Ben Jevons had an inkling who Stourport Swifts had pulled out in Monday’s FA Vase draw.
The 39-year-old centre-half and his colleagues head to Midland League rivals AFC Wulfrunians in round two, the club Jevons represented more than 200 times prior to switching to Walshes Meadow.
It is not quite a derby – the clubs are some 20 miles apart – but the battle of two strong Step 5 sides certainly stands out, particularly on the back of their respective Vase exploits in recent times.
