LATE, great Non-League Paper supremo David Emery has received the ultimate posthumous honour by winning the prestigious Sports Journalists Association (SJA) Doug Gardner Award at the British Sports Awards.

Mr E, as he was affectionately known – founder of Greenways Publishing which encompasses The NLP among other titles – sadly passed away back in June.

On Thursday, ‘Bossman’ was honoured by SJA members for his outstanding contribution to sports journalism after over 50 years of service.

The 75th anniversary awards ceremony, hosted by Jim Rosenthal and Karthi Gnanasegaram and held at the Kia Oval, brought together sporting legends and rising stars with Stuart Broad, Mary Earps and Manchester City named Sportsman, Sportswoman and Team of the Year respectively.

Mr E joins a list of illustrious names to have won the SJA Doug Gardner Award, including Rosenthal, Jeff Stelling and Sir Michael Parkinson.
