BLUES’ CRISIS MAY YET WORSEN

SOUTHEND UNITED’S prospective new owners have revealed a disgruntled creditor is “likely” to petition for the Blues to be wound up. Ron Martin’s sale to a consortium led by Australian businessman Justin Rees was announced in October with a sales contract signed in December. But the takeover is yet to fully go through and, in a statement this week, the consortium warned fans about the likelihood of a new court date over an unpaid debt.
