Former England manager Peter Taylor has left Canvey Island

Former England boss Peter Taylor has stepped down from his latest role, as manager of struggling Canvey Island.

It came after a midweek defeat to Step 5 Benfleet in the Essex Senior Cup and with the Gulls rock bottom of the Isthmian Premier division with just five points from 11 games.
Taylor, 72, took over as Gulls boss in May, reuniting him with the club where he started his youth career.
He went on to make over 500 appearances for the likes of Southend, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and Leyton Orient before embarking on a stellar managerial career at Gillingham, Leicester City, Brighto...
