Arriving into Hartlepool the day before the game I went in
search of and came across a sculptured monkey in the marina area of the town. The figure represented the famous H’angus Monkey, appearing in a fable in which he arrived in Hartlepool before being hung as a spy in the Napoleonic Wars.
