Morgan Williams believes a move to York City represents the next step in his career.
The 26-year-old has joined the title-chasing Minstermen this week after five years at National League rivals Yeovil Town.
And the former Nottingham Forest and Coventry youngster is hoping to fire Stuart Maynard’s men to promotion while realising his own EFL dream.
“I’m absolutely delighted,” defender Williams told the club’s media.
“This is the move I wanted and I think it’s perfect for where I am at in my career. I’m as hunger as anything and am at the age where I just need to push on.
“The club speaks for itself; obviously they’re flying. Last year they should have got promoted and it’s a club going in the right direction.
“I’ve played almost 200 games in this league so I know it well. I’m just happy to be a top club. I’m so excited and can’t wait to hit the ground running.”
Williams made six senior appearances for Coventry across the EFL Trophy and League One after signing from Mickleover in a £12,000 deal in July 2018.
After two separate loan spells at Yeovil, Williams joined the Glovers permanently in the summer of 2021, where he has remained ever since, racking up 185 appearances in the green and white.
Williams rejected a new long-term contract at Huish Park to join York, who sat fourth in the National League table before yesterday’s trip to Sutton.
