New Aldershot Town owner Deane Wood is the reluctant leader who admits that investing in a struggling Non-League football club is ‘suicidal’ – but now says: ‘I'm here for life’.
Wood this week replaced Shahid Azeem as Shots chairman and became the club’s sole director as he looks to stabilise a business that he revealed is “a fortune in debt”.
When several takeover bids stalled, Deane stepped in, even though being in charge “ain't somewhere I really wanted to be at the beginning”.
