After a defining round of midweek action in the National League, the fifth tier returns with a slightly reduced schedule this weekend, with the situation at the top and the bottom of the table still incredibly tight.
Late goals proved pivotal once again as Rochdale snatched a crucial late winner to beat Solihull Moors 1-0, while York City brushed Carlisle United aside 3-0 in a one-sided promotion clash.
At the bottom of the table, Truro City picked up another valuable point after drawing 3-3 with Brackley Town as they continue to give themselves a real chance of survival.
Carlisle are unable to respond immediately after their lunchtime meeting with Aldershot Town – due to be shown live on DAZN – was postponed today alongside Gateshead’s clash with Wealdstone and Woking’s with Yeovil Town.
There is, however, an intriguing clash as two of the top seven do battle in the late kick-off live on DAZN. Here is the pick of the weekend’s action.

Boston United vs Southend United
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Saturday, January 24th 2026
Southend United will be striving to cement their place in the National League play-off positions when they travel to relegation-threatened Boston United on Saturday afternoon.
Kevin Maher’s side dismantled Eastleigh 4-1 on Tuesday night, meaning that they have picked up 10 points from their last possible 12.
The Shrimpers occupy seventh position, and although they are only one point ahead of FC Halifax Town, they have three games in hand on their rivals.
As for the Pilgrims, they were not in action in midweek but were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Halifax last weekend.
Adam Lakeland’s men have a two-point cushion on the relegation zone, but have played at least one game more than each of the bottom four.

Morecambe vs Solihull Moors
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Saturday, January 24th 2026
Morecambe have endured a tough run of games, having played three of the top six in their last four and will be eyeing a much-needed win when they play Solihull Moors at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.
The Shrimps were narrowly defeated 1-0 by Halifax Town on Wednesday night, and they have now slipped to 23rd in the table after Truro picked up another point.
However, a win would take them level on points with 21st-place Sutton United, and Ashvir Singh Johal’s men have shown that they can compete with the division’s best.
As for Solihull, they have been one of the league’s entertainers this season, scoring 20 goals in five matches prior to their 1-0 defeat to title-chasing Rochdale in midweek.
Chris Millington’s side are probably too far off the pace to be considered play-off challengers, but if they can put a run together, then they have an outside chance.
Rochdale vs Truro City
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Saturday, January 24th 2026
After snatching a late, late win in midweek, Rochdale will be hellbent on securing a third successive National League win when they face relegation-threatened Truro on Saturday afternoon.
Joe Pritchard’s 94th-minute goal secured a vital 1-0 victory over Solihull on Wednesday night, which ensured the Dale kept pace with league leaders York.
Jimmy McNulty’s side sit in second and only one point behind the Minstermen, but crucially have three games in hand on their promotion rivals heading into the weekend.
As for Truro, they are now up to 22nd following their 3-3 classic with Brackley; John Askey’s men have only lost one of their last six and have given themselves a real chance of avoiding the drop with recent results.

York City vs Braintree Town
Kick-off at 3pm GMT on Saturday, January 24th 2026
York secured a defining National League victory in midweek and will be eyeing another scalp when they host struggling Braintree Town on Saturday afternoon.
A Wednesday night trip to Carlisle may have appeared daunting on paper, but Stuart Maynard’s side made easy work of their promotion rivals with a resounding 3-0 win.
That result means that the Minstermen remain top of the table heading into the weekend, although second-place Rochdale are one point behind with three games in hand.
Braintree were not in action in midweek but will be aiming to bounce back following their 3-0 defeat to Boreham Wood last weekend.
Steve Pitt’s side sit above the relegation places by just a point and have played more matches than all of the teams below them.
Scunthorpe United vs Forest Green Rovers
Kick-off at 5:30pm GMT on Saturday, January 24th 2026
The game of the weekend comes from the Attis Arena as promotion contenders Scunthorpe United and Forest Green Rovers meet in the evening kick-off live on DAZN.
Andy Butler’s men are unbeaten in their last nine in all competitions and continued their fine form in midweek with an impressive 3-1 away win at title-chasing Boreham Wood.
As for Forest Green, they lost further ground in the title race after a disappointing 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Altrincham and have only one win in their last five league matches.
The two teams are separated by just one place and two points heading into the encounter, but sixth-place Scunthorpe have the opportunity to leapfrog their opponents with victory.
While it promises to be a tight affair, home advantage and stellar form mean the Iron go in as favourites.
