Iliman Ndiaye

From Boreham Wood Under 19s to African Nations champion – Iliman Ndiaye has enjoyed quite a journey.

The Senegal star, 25, learned his trade in the Wood academy, while playing Sunday League football with Rising Ballers Kensington.

In November 2017, Ndiaye signed his first contract with Wood and didn’t look back, joining Premier League Sheffield United two years later and, via a brief loan spell at Hyde United, onto Marseille, back in his native France, and then Everton, where he remains.

And on Sunday, Ndiaye picked up his first major international honour, helping Senegal to AFCON success in an incident-packed final against Morocco.

Celebrating their young protégé’s success, Wood tweeted: “From Borehamwood to the biggest stage. Congratulations to academy success story Iliman Ndiaye and Senegal on winning AFCON! So proud of you, Iliman!”
