VERNON HITS DOUBLE

TWO-GOAL Scott Vernon lived up to his pedigree by firing Cleethorpes Town into the second qualifying round.
The striker scored twice as the Owls brushed Walsall Wood aside at the Linden Club.
Alex Flett put Cleethorpes ahead before Vernon found the net either side of half-time, first dusting himself down to convert from the spot before blasting home a superb long-range effort.
Defender Matthew Bloomer headed home to put the Owls 4-0 up before Kyle Rowley scored late on for Walsall Wood.
