COLNE produced a defiant defensive display to spike the guns of South Shields at Mariners Park.
Shields scored four goals in 10 minutes in their last home game but couldn’t find a way through yesterday.
And they face a tricky replay in Lancashire on Tuesday after Reds keeper Hakan Burton pulled off a fine one-handed save to deny Rob Briggs a stoppage- time winner.
Sefton Gonzales was a threat for the visitors and he tested Shields keeper Myles Boney midway through the first half.
