JAMIE Owens marked his 100th appearance for Stockton with the killer second goal to seal victory.
Stockton had won 5-0 at Liversedge in their final pre-season friendly, but they had to work hard on their return to Yorkshire.
The tie was in the balance until Jordan Robinson broke the deadlock after 75 minutes, Owens adding gloss to the score.
The first half had been attritional with Liversedge not allowing an in-form and unbeaten Stockton to get into their stride.
