SPIREITES SET FOR ALL NEW BACKING?

A LOCAL consortium say they are hopeful of taking over National League strugglers Chesterfield.
Owner Dave Allen, who first invested in the Spireites in 2009, is understood to want to sell the club he has backed significantly.
When Chesterfield were relegated to Non-League in 2018, Allen said he would only sell up when it returned to the Football League having initially confirmed he wanted a way out a year earlier.
However, a consortium believe they are close to sealing a deal with a figure “virtually as good as agreed”.
