MERTHYR TOWN went through courtesy of an early blitz as all of the game’s goals came within the opening 18 minutes.
The home side got off to a dream start when Lewis Powell scored after 49 seconds as he headed in a Keiran Evans ball into the box after a Ricardo Rees shot had been blocked by Matt Newman.
Rees then fired wide when the ball was played up the right as the hosts dominated early on.
