WIDNES equalled their best-ever run in the FA Cup with a narrow win over Trafford.
There was little between the two Step 4 sides on the day in a cup tie that won’t live long in the memory. The Whites started slowly, but took the lead after 21 minutes when Kris Holt emphatically volleyed the ball into the top corner from 25 yards out.
It really should have been 2-0 five minutes later, but James Steele couldn’t divert Matt Van Wyk’s knockdown towards goal.
