FC UNITED of Manchester are into the FA Cup’s second qualifying round in a fortnight’s time, after substitute Nic Bollado proved their matchwinner with a 74th-minute header.
They’ll have felt a goal was coming long before then, after Jay Fitzmartin forced Callum Jakovlevs into a smart stop very early on. However, that opportunity proved an exception to the rule as the cup tie fell into a pattern where Barnoldswick Town were content absorbing pressure in places but importantly cutting off the supply in the final third.
