NATIONAL League South Hemel Hempstead avoided an upset with a controlled performance.
A frantic start to the match saw Gorleston keeper Jake Jessup react quickly to tip over a close range header from Tarelle Whittaker.
Two minutes later Gorleston were inches from taking the lead when a header from Ryan Curtis was tipped onto the base of the post by Hemel keeper James Taylor.
