Gilchrist steers Mariners

JASON GILCHRIST helped himself to two goals as South Shields sparkled against the Diamonds.
Shields were too hot to handle, particularly in the first half, and finished emphatic winners.
Early Diamonds efforts were comfortably dealt with by Myles Boney in the Mariners goal.
Sanmi Odelusi, twice, and Gilchrist got efforts away as Shields mounted a wave of attacks on the visitors’ goal.
The goal arrived on 22 minutes when Gilchrist finished well from Rob Briggs’ corner.
